Companies That Have Implemented Waterless Technology

Search

AirDye is an American company that utilizes printing machines to add heat and pressure to fabrics to transfer specially formulated dyes from paper to polyester fabric. Molecules of the dye are attached to molecules of the fiber, allowing a longer lasting color and a reduction of 95% water and 86% energy than traditional methods of dipping dyes in baths filled with chemicals.

ColorZen is also an American company that uses methods to change the molecular composition of cotton fibers allowing fabrics to become more receptive to dyes. This method uses 90 % less water, 95% fewer chemicals, 75% less energy, and 50% of dyes than conventional processes.

DyeCoo is a Dutch company that utilizes CO2 dyeing technology, which heats and compresses CO2 to a supercritical state. This way, C)2 can be utilized as both a solvent and solute, allowing color pigments to penetrate much more quickly into textile fibers and using little to no chemicals. The fabric also comes out dry, leaving no need for time to air the fabric out. Energy is reduced by 50% and there is no wastewater discharge. They have also partnered up with companies like Nike to promote sustainable lines of clothing.
